Email Communications – Unsubscribe Requests

Start by opening the email you wish to stop receiving. Typically, you can look at the bottom of the email and see an unsubscribe link. Simply click on this link and follow the steps to notify us that you no longer wish to receive a marketing email. You will need to do this for each email distribution list you no longer wish to receive marketing emails from.

Text Message Communications

If you have signed up to receive text messages from us and no longer wish to receive them, you may reply “STOP” to any text message from us. You may also make a request that we stop sending you text messages by emailing us at privacynotice@urban1.com. In your email, please include the mobile number to which you would like us to stop sending text messages. If you submit a request by email, we may ask you to verify your identity before we can process your request.

How to Control Cookies, Beacons, Pixels, and Similar Technology

As explained more fully in our privacy policy, we and our partners use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit one of our websites or use our online services. Depending on your device and browser, you may control and customize your internet browser’s cookie settings or delete cookies altogether. Consumer Privacy Rights and Preferences

Some U.S. states have privacy laws that grant residents the right to make requests regarding how their personal information is collected, used, and shared. Urban One seeks to comply with applicable law and to respect the wishes of its users. At this time we are able to accept the following requests from residents of California and Virginia only.

Sensitive Data and Automated Decision-making: At this time, Urban One does not knowingly try to gather sensitive categories of data about individual users or engage in profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning individual users.

As part of the correction request, eligible users will be required to submit basic identifying information and contact details so that we can process your request and correspond with you about it. Information you provide for this purpose will only be used to verify and carry out your request.

 

Request the deletion of personal information we have about you. You may submit a request to delete your personal information. As part of the deletion request, eligible users will be required to submit basic identifying information and contact details so that we can process your request and correspond with you about it. Information you provide for this purpose will only be used to verify and carry out your request. Please note that not all personal information may be deleted. We may keep certain information to perform important business functions to fulfil contracts with you, for legal reasons and as otherwise permitted by law.

You may submit a request to opt-out through an authorized agent. If you do so, we will follow the same verification procedures as described above for requests for deletion and requests to know about information collected.

 

Global Privacy Signals: We receive and process Global Privacy Signals (“GPC Signal”) for requests to opt-out of sale or sharing.  We process the commonly used and industry standard GPC Signals but because this is new technology and new providers may offer solutions, we will do our best to recognize, process, and honor a GPC Signal that meets the legal standards and is widely adopted in the industry.

 

Please note: We seek to avoid sharing identifiable, non-anonymized personal information about users across our family of Urban One brands and affiliates. Because individual-level information is generally not shared across different parts of the business, if you make an opt-out request on one site, we may be unable to automatically apply that request across all the Urban One branded sites you use. If you use multiple Urban One sites and wish to make an opt-out request for more than one of them, you should visit each site separately and submit a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” request.
